Bangdag Airport in Chamdo
Bangdag Airport, with an altitude of 4,300 meters, is the highest airport in the world and can now handle jumbo jets. Flights to and from Chengdu, Lhasa and Bangdag airports have been open. The total volume of passengers travel was 28,300 in 1999. Chamdo town is 128 km away from the airport. All the flights are before noon, and the return flight to Chengdu departs one hour after the plane from Chengdu lands at Chamdo airport.
